On the Docket - Cotton Bowl: Oklahoma State (9-3) vs. Mississippi (9-3)

Synopsis:

The Cowboys blew a shot at an at-large BCS berth when they laid a big, fat goose-egg against rival Oklahoma in the season finale. They were without standout quarterback Zac Robinson and running back Kendall Hunbter for that game, but both should return for the bowl. This is a rematch of the 2004 Cotton Bowl, where Eli Manning bid farewell to the college game in a 31-28 Ole Miss victory.

Player to watch:

Jevan Snead, though maybe not for the same reasons as other players with this distinction in this publication. Snead has brought a new definition to the word “disappointment”. After starting the season on the short list of Heisman Trophy candidates, Snead fell off the map with repeated abysmal performances. His accuracy has been an issue all season long, as well as his ability to take care of the football. He desperately needs a big game himself to gain some of his reputation back heading into his senior season.

Who has the edge?

The Cowboys have had the more prolific offense this season, until the shutout loss to the Sooners raised some serious concerns for Mike Gundy’s squad. Ole Miss, despite its struggles to live up to its potential, still came up with some big wins and nearly missed out on a few others.

Prediction:

Mississippi 35

Oklahoma State 32
